Clearly you are clueless. ANet is not a charity, it is a business. They do this for profit, it's called a business model. ANets's business model has changed over time, but make no mistake, it's a business.

Wrong here too. It is YOU who are clueless. Hardcore gamers are not the business model, you mean nothing, you don't support the company enough to make aniother game worth wile. It is the NON-hardcore players where the money comes from.

That aside, complaining about delay of this quest is really silly, the clue is in the name!

Thanking a business for giving you something you want for free is not the same as calling them a charity and kissing their feet. You can recognize that it's all part of their business model (which at this point amounts to "keep the fans happy enough that they'll buy GW2 when we're done with it") without being cynical and refusing to thank them for stuff you enjoy.

Ofcourse they're not a charity, who said that? Ofcourse they need to profit from their products. One quest isn't what brings in new players. This quest is for the existing players, who, as you said, do not bring in more money to anet (but might with character slots, etc). So this quest in particular, is for the existing people, and was a nice thing for anet to do. And even before it's out, people are complaining. That's what we're discussing.

That's what I was saying. The new people are the ones who bring the most money to anet. But then again GW is so damn cheap now, I bet they're making the most money from storage and stylist.

Ummm... what? So, my $40 that I spent is worth less then the $40 somebody else spent to buy the game?

It doesn't matter how hardcore somebody. It doesn't matter how much somebody plays the game or not. A.net doesn't care from a buisness perspective if somebody plays non-stop or buys the game, plays it for 1 hour and quits. They already have your money either way. That's why GW is different from traditional MMOs. They don't have to add endless grind to maintain a player base, as they have no financial motivation to do so. This game doesn't care about time played. Just total numbers sold. And anybody who quits... has already bought the game. No one who has never heard of this game before is going to go "well they nerfed this skill/quest that I've never heard of for a game I've never played, I shouldn't buy it then."

I agree with most of what you say bar one thing, they need to maintain the players that already in place at the moment within GW 1. If they dont they lose a considerable amount of people who might buy GW 2 which means less profit for the company. People tend to forget how competitive the games industry is, its so easy for a GW player to put it down like you said after playing it for 1 hour and then never have an intrest in any future releases of the series.

Thats what they want mostly, to maintain the current player base by adding more content like the Halloween quests (example), whether it being hardcore or a passive player who plays GW every so often they need these people from a business and gaming perspective. Heres to more content please Anet!

There's a reason why they call it "The Waiting Game".

What I meant was, there simply are not enough "hardcore" gamers to make enough money. ANet needs the hundreds-of-thousands of casual players more than it needs the hundreds of hardcore players.

I hope you're not that ignorant to think it was supposed to be like this. It's beyond any doubts that the quest should have been up long ago.

I'm not mad or QQ-ing about it tho, doesn't really bother me much, I'm just stating the obvious.

So many sad QQ in this thread, in the words of Tallahassee "Nut up, or shut up".

The quest will be here when it gets here ANet doesn't "owe" it to you, maybe it should have been up for Halloween, but it wasn't and your complaints won't speed it up.

Oh and farms die, get over it to anyone complaining about UWSC, go find the next big things to fill your pixel coffers.

And anybody who quits a game because a single Halloween quest is ambiguous is not casual and takes this game way to seriously.

Which, I'm glad you agree with Fay.

As a hardcore player who now plays casually I do find very frustrating as this is Limited new content and they don't give me any idea when it will be available. I find myself checking the forums daily just to see if this waiting game is over or not. I would really like to know when it will be available, and how long will the window stay open. And I understand that they don't owe me anything, until they open their mouth and make promises. If they said they are going to do something, they ether going to do it, give good reason why they can't any longer, or take a credibility hit. With what appears to be only 2 3-4 month content updates for 2009 and a broken quest chain, they are choosing option c, and making me think i should look for greener pastures.

There was a problem implementing the quest I'm sure...just as sure as I am that the quest will be made available as soon as is possible or as soon as they intend it to be made available.

Shit happens. I check almost every day to see if it is available yet, but beyond that there is no way I would waste time constantly obsessing over when it will be made available. It will be a cool quest when it is made available, I'm sure...just as all the previous quests have been a nice break. Thanks to Anet for implementing any new quests at all, and also for doing it in a creative manner to kind of "kill two birds with one stone".

Broken how? How do you, or anyone else posting here, know that this isn't exactly the way it was meant to play out? Because it didn't come out due to your personal wants and needs doesn't mean it's broken o___o

I didn't say that at all; way to put words in my mouth, I guess?

I don't need to be able to cook to know if something tastes awful. Anet is not giving us anything 'for free', I paid ~$200 for the game, and I imagine there's quite a few people out there who've shelled out more than that. This isn't something that a company is doing out of the kindness of their hearts--they're a business, they're doing it to make absolutely sure people still give a shit about their game for when the sequel hype starts to build.

This is a good way to do it, as I clearly give a shit, but don't say that people have to be able to do something better in order to make any complaints at all--that's just retarded.

You mean like in Boreas Seabed? I hope not... Would be disappointing to see another Kraken instead of an all new villain.

also srry for double post but TBH the only way you could pay $200 for guild wars is if you have all the campaigns + EoTn + All Bonus missions + a bunch of xunlai pans + all the pvp content you can buy... the list just goes on for it too be a total of $200

well I'm 3 collectors editions, bmp, 1 extra slot, eotn, eotn preview (was $2), and a second account trilogy + eotn. That's well above $200 and it's just 2 accounts.

your math is bad, jask
